adds extra mana. a must have early on when you only have 2 preferably 3 mana. it allows you to get the momentum on your opponent, the next turn they have 3 mana availible then you have 5 and they only have 4.

I have a Talisman of Dominance Mask with a little face drawn on it.

I prefer Dimir Signet, but this is still just fine :)

Any time we get a mana accelerator cycle, the {UB} combination gets the highest rating. I wonder why? Even the artifact version of the once prolific painlands gets a relatively high rating.

@DacenOctavio, the {U}{B} mana accelerators/dual lands are also generally the most expensive, by a significant margin. I think it's just a case of them being the colors with the worst mana fixing, combined with a heavy tendency to be controlly in nature.

Are talismans better than dual lands? Maybe. They effectively cost 1 if you use them the turn you cast them. The down side of paying life for colored mana is nominal, you'd be spending the same amount of life using the tutor lands to fetch your dualies anyhow. They also ramp your mana up a bit and offer more synergy options such as metalcraft.
Better? Kinda. Yet, unless you're considering budget it's best to use them in addition to dual lands rather than replacing them.

I really liked the Talisman cycle. Especially with their capstone, Talisman of Purity.

The cycle's even good in decks with more than two colors. This has seen minor Legacy play, even.

Seriously the third time I've randomed into this today. Still don't like it, random card chooser bot!
