This is funny-you see, the land was either a forest or an island, and the evil presence is leeching the good mana an replacing it with pure death.

Keep in mind that swampwalk used to be a fairly common ability. In some casual decks, this card used to be Black

half your creatures are unblockable for the rest of the game.
