At the time maybe they planed to make black focus on creature and land removal. Clearly the color pie changed since Red now holds the torch on land destruction. Of course this will remain one of the all time best land destruction cards due to the fact that you can remove land on turn two, (Even as early as turn one if you have a dark ritual). Really can color screw a multicolored deck.

I love this card. The clause is simply "destroys an one land", and that's all it really needs to say. The only thing I can think of to add to it is the flavor text: "That's game".

For about three seconds I was in shock, thinking about Isochron Scepter. Then I realized this is a sorcery.. Finally, I was extremely thankful the Scepter only uses instants, otherwise this combo would be very very annoying..
