However! It IS pretty neat that this card is colorless. I like the ideas of both Aladdin's Ring and Rod of Ruin, just, of course, they seem to be too weak. It's not just that they are ''slow'' because good control decks can use high CMC cards anyway. :P
There is some Design out there that makes this type of card actually Good, I just don't recall seeing WOTC print it yet :) I would recommend they start by adding 'this damage can't be prevented. If a creature is dealt lethal damage this way, it can't be regenerated.'
I like Anti-Regeneration clauses. I also like that WOTC has pulled back on them. I want to see Anti-Regeneration clauses carefully used as Pepper, a spice you don't need to see everywhere instead of as Salt that is so ubiquitous it stops being special and starts being Assumed. It would be cool to flavorfully associate a card as ''In World extra-powerful'' by adding a clause that In Game is not usually powerful. :)
(I think this card would be vastly improved by changing 8-8-4 to 6-6-6 :D )
