Rereading this card makes me think they really should have printed a Phoenix creature in Lorwyn-Shadowmoor block with Persist.

I'm very partial to phoenixes.

Yup, they passed up the chance for a persist Phoenix, and now they've passed up a chance for an undying one. Probably because undying is for "monsters", and phoenixes are symbols of hope.

Phoenix's deserve more love as a tribe. Especially now that we have the undying mechanic. I honestly can't wait till Phoenix tribal is plausible.

It's a pity Time Spiral isn't going to happen again. I'd love to see an appropriately costed phoenix with Undying AND Persist and some way to stop it being a simple infinite sacrifice engine (maybe "If CARDNAME is sacrificed, exile it" or something?)
