P/T stats that are far apart from each other (1/4) are particularly useful for evolve because they trigger evolve for other creatures and themselves easier.

No, Sleaw, the line is "With anemones like these, who needs friends?".

Anemones aren't jellyfish, but meh, it's close enough.

@Leshrac_Nightwalker: Well, they're not going to make a whole new creature type just for creatures as obscure as anemones, so they just went with whatever's closest.

Not a strong card, but I still kinda like it.

4/5. We have a code 5 clinger. I knew WOTC was itching to make a card with flavor dripping from the Wedding Crashers. "Lock it up!" "NO YOU LOCK IT UP!"

Fairly decent. As someone may have already said, 4 toughness allows evolving other creatures and 1 power allows being evolved itself. Very quite useful in limited.

SO pretty! Blue needs to go back to its fishy roots.

Unfortunately, due to the existence of Elusive Krasis, no real reason to play this guy.
Also, the fact that people are still willing to play this thing while it's a 1/4 defender for 4 really shows how scary powerful Evolve is.

Sorry, but this card simply sucks. You can get tougher, cheaper, flying walls in ravnica, and walls are kinda boring and pointless most of the time anyway.

Seems it would have been better with Reach.

Anemones and jellyfish are both cnidarians, so... they are grouped together? That holds about as much water as putting spiders in the insect tribe.

Simic wasn't as cool as Orzhov, Dimir, or Boros to me....at first.
Eventually some Simic cards got spoiled that got me really excited, but when I'm in my Johnny Mood is usually the OPPOSITE of when I'm in my Green Mood (though my Green side is also not very Timmy...it's more....Jedi?)
Anyway, my Crazy Science-omancy Decks tend to lean far more Izzet than Simic.
I would like them to eventually add a few more creature types to make cards like this more accurate. :)
Sea Plant would be able to cover A LOT of creatures, especially if you combined it with things like 'Octopus' :D
Coral should really be creature type- Skeleton tbh, and if I ruled MAGIC (was MaRo), I would try to advocate for adding 'Mollusk' to the creature types. We don't need a LOT of new creature types, but I think we need SOME.
No, Magic doesn't want to try to correctly taxonomize every Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, and Species of creature types, for the reasons I'm sure at least one article has already outlined, but I think taking a look at Biology charts and seeing which Classes and Orders WOULD be cool to add in the game, would be a project worth doing.
We are very close to having the right bead on creature types when we can get as close as "Jellyfish" to "Anemone", but we should want to do better. Adding a new creature type for every species is dumb because Tribal Decks want to exist, which is why I think "Sea Plant" would be a better creature type than "Anemone".
"Hydra" might be ok, except that it definitely has a loose mechanical identity and thus can't be used unless you give this creature 'heads' somehow. a Perfect Example of something that would, Biologically and Flavorfully, be just fine actually, but is unnecessary complexity for Design and besides not much space on the card to do it and besides it's a common. :P
I also would like "Marsupial" to be added, because MAGIC: the Gathering needs more Duck-Billed Platypi, and sticking Duck-Billed Platypi and Kangaroos and Wombats in a Marsupial Tribal Deck would be just crackers :3
@Arachnos- no, it would be TERRIBLE with Reach. :P VORTHOS FOUL! :O HOW THE HELL DOES A FISH-PLANT BLOCK A BIRD? X.X -_-
@Totema- are Scorpions 'insects' too? o.O MAGIC REALLY needs "Arachnids" then at the -least-. That would allow them to use all the Arthropods they really need and we actually SHOULD NOT encourage our Games to tell High School kids that 'All Bugs Are Insects'. :P that is honestly a really fair line to draw for 'Scientific Accuracy'. "Arthropods" would be getting too technical as a creature type probably.
We have had TWO particularly revolutionary Rules Book Changes in Magic's past- 6thE and M10. I think it will shortly be time for the second Great Creature Type Update. :P These things should not happen frequently, but they should continue to occur over long periods as needed...

Utterly terrible. Four mana is far too much to pay for a non-flying defender with no useful abilities; Evolve, on a defender, just isn't that valuable overall, and it's especially useless on a creature that's already so overpriced.
