Stupid card. I don't see the point. I guess you could save him from a lightning bolt. Other than that, he's a 2/2 flyer for 3. Big deal.

Tap him after he blocks. He's still blocking, even if the attacker has flying, and is now 0/4. Better if you have a Knighthood or Guided Strike to give him first strike (under the old damage rules, anyway). Or tap to protect him from damage spells.

Giving him first strike is the way to make it work under new damage rules - priority is passed between first strike damage and normal damage.

Very deliberately designed to be immune to Lighting Bolt, it's in his flavor text and it's in his art (he's being struck by lightning and laughing about it. Lighting Bolt being red's primary removal at the time, this was at least playable against a red deck.
