Sooo... why is the limitation there in the first place? I mean, it's an enchantment... If you have leftover mana your opponent will know you're going to pour it into this after declare attackers...

Very gross, paying mana for toughness boosting isn't very fun, less fun when its not surprising and even less fun when there's more limitations on it. The expensive cost of 2, makes it only somewhat effective for protection from burn spells.
