When I originally saw this card, I thought that it was depicting small robed figures lurking about in some kind of gathering in a swamp. What I thought were little cultists, however, are actually the roots of cypress trees that grow back up from the ground forming "cypress knees".

Nah, it's a lot more fun to think the first thought, it's a lot Blacker that way. This is seriously my favorite Swamp art, and I trade for it as often as I can.

Looking at the scale of the "knees" as compared to the tree I'd have to say those are cultists. Nice research though, cool stuff!

Indeed, specifically that looks like a Bald Cypress tree of the American south, very common in swamps not surprisingly
