@ thaviel: "If it only was an enchantment"? The good part about it is that it's NOT an enchanment. An enchantment can be easily removed with naturalize, disenchant, giving the creature protection some point later on, stealing the enchantment or whatever. That doesn't work with this card.

Why is this rated lower than Control Magic??? Instead of it being and enchantment, your sac a chum, which is better im my opinion 4.5 atleast

As if there weren't enough annoying things to do with Bloodghast.

can't be destroyed by disenchant, etc., unlike control magic. however, you also have to sac a creature and you can't nab artifact or black creatures. kind of lame. however, it could be decent in a sideboard against decks that run a lot of neat non-black creatures. i like playing this against my friends who always play the same green decks, etc. decent card, but not decent enough to maindeck. 3.5

@majinara: I think thaviel's right here if it were an enchantment you could use it over and over again and it would be much more powerful. Sure it would be a little more susceptible to removal but you could also sac most of your field to steal all of your opponents (obviously you would want to have more creatures than your opponent to pull this off) if were an enchantment. That said it's better as it is, not more powerful but better what with not being broken and all.

Are you suggesting Sorcery spells can't be recurred?
I sacrifice my Archaeomancer to Ritual of the Machine. I Stitch Together Archaomancer.

From the name, you'd expect this card to have something to do with artifacts... guess not, though.

Actually, that expectation aside, I like the flavor of this card. "Ritual of the Machine" is a really awesome card name and the fact that there isn't an immediately obvious flavor connection gets your imagination running. After thinking about it, it seems to be referencing Phyrexia.

As for the power of the card, it's certainly not better than Control Magic. It has targeting restrictions and requires a sacrifice. Not to say that it's bad, or that it may be preferable to Control Magic in a number of situations (no enchantment to disenchant, after all,) but generally, I'd say Control Magic is better.
