Adding and is somewhat interesting, but the cmc should have been two not three.

I think its cost is O.K., think about Fyndhorn Elder, this guy gets an additional point of toughness.

I like this card, just tapping this alone may let you use some extra spells. It's nice but it's pretty easily destroyed. If you don't need it you can use it as a chump blocker. This card is well balanced.

This card was meaningless printed, since at the time referred only to generic mana costs and not to colorless mana. If you look before Odyssey, you will notice that lands that tap for colorless will always specify "one colorless mana" in English, rather than as a symbol. Of course, everyone knew what the card meant it the rules were very quickly updated to allow this sort of mana generation.
