With enough cheep Madness cards, this is a decent blocker. Might be better if its ability did damage to an attacking flyer, instead.

You have to see this card in context. Look at all the common fliers in Oddyssey block. This one beats all except a few. Besides, it's a great discard outlet that is about on par with Giant Spider. It's better than people give it credit for.

I'd rather have a Giant Spider, but I suppose this works with Madness decks quite well.
