Why does green get first strike again?

Underpowered and almost completely uninteresting; a pretty typical Homelands card. The only reason to even glance at it is the somewhat odd granting of First Strike to a green card, but even that is a mere curiosity, not a significant, exploitable feature, even if it worked outside of blocking scenarios.

Even more curious: where did his reach go?

@Tiggurix
It's a subterranean spider, sort of like Giant Trap Door Spider (which also lacks reach). Flavor-wise, spiders' reach comes from the ability to weave a Web, which isn't often done underground.

First strike here, Flavorwise, is that you are ambushed by the spider.

Look at the art. The Spider just dropped down on this guy and is all like "Hi, lol." and the guy is, well, probably in need of new pants.

Ah, Homelands, where a 2/2 green creature for 3G with an ability that doesn't always work is considered perfectly logical! Just one of the many reasons why that set was so awful!

one of the two spiders that don't have reach

@garbagegatherer: Exactly, that was the first thing I wondered when I finished reading this card. I had never expected there to be a Spider without reach without good reason.

@longwinded: Thank you! =)

@kryptnyt: First of all, spiders are just as much a good and true animal as you and me, and secondly, I can't say I approve of your hostility towards innocent arachnids.

Here's the thing about it that sucks: It will never surprise opponents. They will know they are attacking into it, and furthermore, its ability isn't even viable for offense! This would have been more playable if it had Flash, of even if it was just a 3/2 First Strike. Alas.
