With Rise of the Eldrazi, this would have made a nice reprint; reflavoured to "Cultist of Kozilek", with flavour text reading: "How do you pronounce 'Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Kozilek r'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn'?"

Bog Witch is reusable, but this does give you 3 mana, as opposed to 2 with the witch, or even Dark Ritual(net gains).

The thing that is cool about this card is that it is harder for your opponent to stop. Dark Ritual can be easily countered, but few counters exist for abilities (the only cards I can think of at the moment is Void Slime and Linvala, Keeper of Secrets)

On one hand it is harder to counter than Dark Ritual, but on the other hand you opponent can counter the creature itself or just kill it. Countering instants is mostly a blue thing. All five colors can remove your creature. Just play the ritual.
