Wouldn't it be safe to assume that by the flavor text, she's not an insect, but rather in costume?

That ability is kind of blue...

I can't believe three things:

1) This card has been titled an "Insect Wizard."
2) I now know that there is a Jund-colored Insect Wizard.
3) This is a card from Legends that isn't horrid and unlikable.

Whoa hey, step back and fill her (no doubt gorgeous) shoes with your feet for a mile.

You're an insect. What's more, you're also a wizard who loves to frequent the Royal Masquerade. But oh no! What are you going to wear?! Nothing but nothing goes with gossamer wings and the ability to draw cards!

Except a giant poofy red gown and a freaky huge hat! Now your problems are over and you actually are an insect because you can't spell wizard without dragonfly.

@Oleander:

One of the novels conferms she's an insect. The flavor text only makes it safe to as-sume she's in costume, it doesn't make it safe to as-sume anything about her creature type.

The weird part is that in the book she's a deadly egg-laying manraper. How does that translate to jund-colored flying 1/2 that draws cards?

A flyer in three colors that don't have good fliers. In fact, it's a Storm Crow.

Running her as general in Jund EDH... I darn near never run out of cards in hand.

I always thought, based on the illustration I guess, that she was a faerie. Oh well, an insect is fine too.

I always assumed that was a costume.

Turns out she actually is a giant bug. Who knew?
