Actually, in the earlier days white's abilities were more about healing and damage prevention. Red was, and I think still is, the color of war and damage infliction. The defense factor of his ability is more of a detente effect. He can be a thorn in your side if you aren't controlling him. He's fun in EDH.

For virtually the same CMC, you can get a Kulrath Knight and for 1 less you can get a Blazing Specter. Both are superior choices, sorry Tor Wauki. You are no longer any good.

Its so painful how close this card is to being playable. Maybe one more point of damage? Maybe one less cmc? Sadly even with this mediocre ability it is probably one of the better cards in legends.
