I remember this card saving my ass against all those "cannot be target of spells or..." .
Never leave your home without it hahaha

Amazing card..!

Better than the remake, chainers edict, which has flashback7 and counts as a sorcery!

Using this together with isochon scepter is a pure win against creature decks..! ;D

Excellent creature killer, why it is not reprinted ? it's far better than Cruel Edict.

You answered your own question, True_smog: It didn't get reprinted because it was far better than Cruel Edict.
Instant speed is something Wizards didn't want to see with this effect in a Core Set.

I love this card. For a reason known as Isochron Scepter.

Even Emrakul will die from being thrown off a boat.

Reprint this on magic online, it's a casual staple, and it's absurd that a common is worth 5 dollars on the secondary market.

If WoTC is gonna keep releasing timmy bombs, we need removal to keep up, and since R&D refuses to design proper removal.... Development please please reprint this.

one of the reasons this is better than cruel edict is you can target yourself.
in fact I found cause to target myself with this recently and it saved my ass.

Would everyone who's used this to kill Vhati il-Dal please give this 5/5?
Also, can we please get this reprinted? Without a good edict effect, the format begins to have a lot of trouble handling difficult-to-kill creatures, and this instead of Go for the Throat or Doom Blade would work perfectly.

Vhati, unlike T Pain, is no longer on a boat.

ok, it's strictly better than cruel edict, and deserves a 4.5

but a 5/5? really? higher rating than black lotus? get your shit together people and make up your mind.

Apparently, the most diabolical and sinister punishment is throwing someone overboard...

I love this card. The jaws that drop when you play this during you're opponent's turn are priceless. Useless against a "weenie" deck but against "timmy" players it's hilarious.

it's a saddish commentary on the state of this fine game we play that best player to target with this is probably yourself. no, seriously. Graveyard based combos? sorta kinda stupidly broken.

The cruel part isn't that he's being thrown off of a boat. It's that he's being thrown across a boat flying thousands of feet above ground.

Not only is this card great, it has been used in some of the finest movies of our time. Darth Vader used it on Emperor Palpatine, Scar used it on Mufasa... truly the foundation of cinematic glory.

"This card game will take place... ON A BOAT!"
"A... boat?"
"Yes! Ingenious, isn't it?"
"Why a boat?"
"Because... when he loses the card game... we'll... push him over the edge of the boat! ...Into the sea!"
"And what, pray tell, will that accomplish?"
"Well, his hair will be soaked. It will take him hours to dry it."
"Why do we even need to play a card game? Why can't we just push him off the boat?"
"Wha- No! The card game is integral to the plot! The evil plot! Of which I am the evil mastermind!"
