The way I understand it it does this: 1: Enchanted creature has protection from a colour of your choice. The most recent protection overrides any other colours enchanted creature has been given protection from by ~.

Basically, the sleight counters determine how much it will cost to change the protection. The more you change it, the more expansive it gets. Hopefully you're not against an opponent that uses lot of different colors.

1) Does not protect against doom blade.
2) Still can be chump blocked / evaded against.
3) Overall weak effect. Does not boost power nor grant evasion, just protects you against things that were supposed to kill you anyways rather then making you stronger.

Yeah you guys are probably sick of hearing about doom blade. On creatures this is a fair argument, but for auras this argument is needed. Getting 2 for 1 is a giant setback in magic, and this aura is super vulnerable to that common tactic. Almost forcing you to place this on a hexproof creature.

Back in the day, R&D seriously overestimated how much protection was worth (look at how Flickering Ward came out after this.) This card would have been fine if it granted genuine protection and had a flat cost to change the color it protected against, rather than a constantly-increasing one.
