Even with the both options on 1 card, neither side seems particularly useful. Usually land destruction is only good if the deck is devoted to it, and just a one-shot opponent's choice discard is not that useful at any stage in the game. I guess I'm missing something here.

@NuckChorris: Land destruction is useful as an answer to things like Valakut, and single discard can be extremely useful if your opponent is down to one card in hand in a control deck and you want to cast something with the guarantee it won't get countered. (There are other similar situations, and it's an antitrip at worst)
