Why such a low rating...? It's a 1 drop artifact that can net you life in a lot of situations, and you're going to have a lot of mana in an artifact deck with how much artifact mana ramp there is.

@ mrredhatter ok, but which would be easier to play with zombies, goblins, elves, or merfolk? while the other charms usually just referred to card colors you were playing (in a time when mono color decks were more common), this one stood out, as creatures go (went) into (almost) everyone's decks. sure, white is known for weenies, but every color has em, and this card can accommodate the other 80%, and score you an extra point here and there when your opponent's attacks got too bold.
