4.5/5 in the deck 2/5 elsewhere.
I don't think I've ever seen a card that was so heavily effected by combat damage being removed from the stack. If I understand my archeo-Magic rulings correctly anyway.

Goblin Guide should turn this into a combo somehow. Maybe you get to search a Homeward Path out?

@ NoobOfLore considering that this comes from a deck where you only have 1 copy of each card and Urza's Saga has had 13 years to have its boosters bought up, I don't think that statement makes much sense :P

It's an easy additional card and life per turn with Zedruu. You won't mind an opponent controlling it because a 2/1 that can only attack and block is irrelevant in EDH.

No, this was affected not at all by the M10 combat damage change. Its ability has ALWAYS changed its controller (and thereby removed it from combat) before even first-strike damage happens.

The only way it deals combat damage at all is if it attacks and is unblocked.

Secret sideboard tech for RDW against Leyline of Sanctity.

Except it doesn't break trample. Block a trampler with this, and it's removed from combat, and now the tramper can assign no damage to its blockers and kill all of them, so all you accomplished is wasting a blocker.
