I think this guy might've worked better in the Devour for Power deck rather than Counterpunch, but he slots fairly well as a utility tool into both (since both like to use the graveyard anyhow). Shame his abilities aren't a touch cheaper; seems like 3G and 3B woulda worked alright.

note that he is a 2/2 for 2 in hybrids. the abilities are for if you are in a pinch.

Yeah. a 2/2 for 2 flexible mana, the abilities need to cost a bit more than if they were on a 1/1.

Yeah, because it's really good to put one opponent on a 20 turn clock in multiplayer FFA Commander. The +1 counter ability will never get played, and the second ability is really only good as sac outlet, which is overcosted as well. This is an instant kick from the precon, and really the only place I would ever expect to see it would be in an Elf deck with Nath or something.

This card is a real disappointment. It was disappointing during its day in Standard, and it's disappointing in Commander.

I'll state the obvious since nobody has. In a {G}{U}{B} deck with two Training Grounds, both of those abilities only cost one mana. It's not the best way to do that sort of thing, but it's decent.

I play this in my G/B Elf deck with Scarblades and Prowess of the Fair. Sac the creature to get some 1/1s into play, and get an elf card into your hand to fuel the Lys Alana Scarblade's -X/-X ability. Or you can just play the Elf if you have a Lys Alana Huntmaster in play. Quite the awesome card in a G/B Elf deck since you have so much mana production.

I don't get why black players always talked about wanting a good bear when Ravnica had 4 for them.

Seems like Golgari's getting a lot of Commander love, which is good to see.
