This is one of those cards that almost every Commander deck wants, so I'm glad they reprinted it, but only one of the Commander decks has it! Oh well, there are enough unique and interesting rares in the other prebuilts that I'm happy.

OH SHUCKS and I was looking forward to: "When Solemn Simulacrum DIES, draw a card."

Wonderful card, but the art....... I know it was based off a player, but did he have to look so demn smug?

edit: So they gave Troll Ascetic the keyword "Hexproof" in this release, but they didn't give us the new M12 Solemn Simulacrum art? You guys are punks.

@lorendorky: Holly non sequitur Batman, I expected you to ask why it didn't say "dies" like greg2367 pointed out. If that were the case, I'd agree: Troll Ascetic gets an update, why not this guy? The lack of M12's art probably has to do with the fact that the art was commissioned for that release and was a planned spoiler for a website, so that'd be kind of ruined by printing it a month earlier. As far as I know all of the other cards that got new art just got reprints of their past promo art.

I'm in agreement with Chamale that it's disappointing that only one Commander deck has this guy in it. Worse though, is that the one deck that gets it is Green, but the three decks without the best color and mana ramping don't. That's something that continues to puzzle me.

As for the art, it is weird, but I like what they did, given the definition of simulacrum: "a slight, unreal, or superficial likeness or semblance." For that reason, at least, I'll miss this art a little come M12, but the new art is pretty amazing, if a little too reminiscent of Esper.

I really don't understand why this card is worth so much. Yeah it's a good card, but surely doesn't deserve a 10 dollar price tag.

This card is card advantage incarnate. It comes into play, tutoring for a land, it attacks for 2 damage, maybe they block and trade a creature, you draw a card. Its often a 3 for 1, always a 2 for 1. Try actually playing with it and you'll see why it's so good.

It doesn't say dies because this came out before Innistrad which changed goes to the graveyard to dies.

Staple in all EDH decks not running green.

You know, the art is jarring if you consider just how weird the humans of Mirrodin are. None of them look like this. So (in-universe, I mean I obviously know it's supposed to be Jens) who could this be a simulacrum of?
