Semi-useful...requires a ton of mana to be useful since you would be protecting yourself from a horde of creatures...

I think it's a great card against white decks, too bad it's use is limited because you can only protect yourself from white.

During Alpha, the lack of COP: Black ment this COP had to combo with Purelace to cover the gap. Actully, Purelace could combo with this to deal with anything that was not of a color one of your COPs in play could deal with.

You know, this plus Leeches essentially let's you negate poison counters for only . Combine it then with Phyrexian Unlife, and it starts to get interesting...

The Laces interacted weirdly with the Circles of Protection and with a few other cards like Sleight of Mind.
By weirdly, I mean on reflection it obviously looks like some of the cards are just flat redundant.
I'm not sure how many Circles of Protection is appropriate, but I actually think 9th may have got it exactly right- better even than Xth, I mean. The Laces....need to do a lot better. They remade them in Shadowmoor, I think?

I suppose it'd help protect against white weenies back then. with Crusade, it's sort of handy but unlikely to ever have seen much play really.
