Very handy card. Dies a little too easy to burn spells but your getting a good creature back at the lest.

3/3 flyer for looks bad on first glance compared to modern flyers. However, compare this angel to a gravedigger. It costs only 1 more mana, but got more power, toughness, evasion and protection to hold off angels or fly through them. Can only get blue or red creatures, but still nice. Especially good in edh/commander, where many player have multicolored dragons as commanders, of which many are white as well, which this angel can hold of nicely.

This card is pretty decent with the 3/3, flying, and protection all for only 5. Even if you can't use the special ability, it's still nice, but not worth more than an uncommon if you're not able to truly utilize that ability.

Great art, great flavour text. One less mana and this would be a bomb.
Retrieves burn from the graveyard while stopping Baneslayer Angel or other white bombs from ruining your day. I'd give it 4/5, but I like the art, so I'm upping it to 4.5/5

you guys are forgetting that this it prot: white in black. literally half the creature removal spells played today are useless against this guy, and like the o,ther commenters said, this blocks baneslayers and/or flies through them. it has flying (in black, again) has a decent body, and doesn't die to black or white removal. so it can be burned, who cares! you're playing black, sheesh, easiest color to get creatures back on the field with.

this'll go great in my Kaalia deck! (btw, I know the Color identity rule, but that doesn't mean I cant just play some of the Blue dragons, like, say...Numot or Nicol Bolas, let them find their way to the graveyard by discard or something else, and then Kaalia the frak out of 'em after Gravedigging. That's totally allowed, right? :DDD

@DarthParralax: Crypt Angel has a mono-black color identity, actually. Color words don't count towards color identity, or otherwise stuff with protection like Akroma would be silly.

Immune to Blade, Swords and Path, plus black doesn't get that many good flyers. Quite decent, I'd say.
