This has really stood the test of time. Few other cards printed in Alpha that were good have managed to remain unsurpassed in quality to this day. Sure, Lotus and the Moxes are powerful in ways unmatched, but they're absolutely broken. On the other hand, Wrath isn't broken, and yet hasn't needed to be improved upon for nearly twenty years. They nailed it on the first attempt, which is truly impressive.

I remember sending in this "6th Edition" Wrath of God in for credit just for the store owner to come back to me and say that it's actually not 6th Edition, but rather Battle Royale.

Tricky Wizards, very tricky.

@scumbag1: You're almost correct. This card aged far better than almost anything in Alpha, however Wizards has seen fit to nerf it just a little bit by replacing it with Day of Judgment.

Unfortunately this was a color pie mistake that stuck around to keep white the king of dealing with creatures (wtf)?

@ScissorsLizard

They probably didn't nerf it because it was too powerful. They probably changed it because they got rid of the keyword "Buried", and so a card that says simply "Destroy all creatures" just feels a cooler than "Destroy all creatures. They can't be regenerated", even if it's slightly less effective.
