Even though this creature is at 100% efficiency for 20% of the time (1/5 cards are white, technically), still, having a 2/2 first strike creature is always a good idea.

You nailed it, just like it's counterpart White Knight, they are awesome creatures even without the protection, then you get the right color playing opponent and your day is done.

Artifact is not a color, vampirecat. You mean colorless cards because there are colorless creatures that are not artifact just like there are artifacts that have a color.
