He has some utility in an exalted deck that wasn't there before, and he conveniently has Bant coloring. Still, his high cost is difficult to justify.

He beats bolas in a fight, offensive or defensive, he makes creatures more resilient to burn so they can at least attack (even grizzly bears doesn't die to lightning bolt) He makes walls better, and Dosan Decks love him (if you can afford the convoluted 4 color deck.)
