For five mana and double-red, i don't see what problem Wizards had to let this card not simply destroy any land.

Not a very good card. It would have been nice if it were a Trap with a conditional cost too. Maybe "If an opponent had both an Artifact and Land enter the battlefield this turn.. pay RR"
With Liquimetal Coating you can potentially destroy two lands for 5 mana..

"Really? why bother putting LD into this set if this is what we get?"
It's not meant to enable straight LD strategies, but rather to take out utility lands (I think one or two were printed in Zendikar block). In a slower format, like Zendikar Limited or EDH, it's not a bad utility spell; it's card advantage in red.

With caw-go in the spotlight now, this card has slightly more potential.
Always pick both. Derp. I think this definitely has some potential in EDH

As crap as this card usually is, it's killed me in casual before. My U/G snakes deck had a Simic Growth Chamber and a Door Of Destinies out, perfect start, then the red deck my friend cobbled together from his Rise of the Eldrazi booster box played this absolute mongrel of a card. 2/5.

Why do you all think this card is god aweful when it isn't? This can destroy 2 things with 1 card, that's called card advanatge. Sure this card won't win any tournaments, but it isn't as bad as you make it seem. 2.5/5
