Reusable discard that your teammates or allies can use. Works best in a Madness and/or Hellbent deck.

A bit more one-sided if you have Spiritual Focus out.

Scandalmonger could be the poster child for a Masques-block campaign to be elected worst ever. It's a testament to Magic's enduring appeal that the game survived whole sets themed on letting your opponent decide whether your cards worked or not.

This card is particularly bad because it creates permanently empty hands for all players starting almost the moment it hits the board. Either Player A plays Scandalmonger with extra mana open to wreck the opponent's hand, or the first effect his card has is to let Player B nuke his hand.

Unfun.

I love the art for this card.

It's actually kind of fun in a casual Hellbent deck. Works especially well in regular multiplayer, where your opponents might use their spare mana to wreck each other.

Cause everyubody loves top-decking...
But in a madness deck...

@Kirbster
You could just use Leyline of Sanctity, but maybe you want the looting effect

While I loved the great creature type update, and I love that this Boar Man in the picture exists, I don't think it is the Scandalmonger. It appears that the man with the eye-patch is the one spreading the scandalous rumors, and the boar man is merely the recipient of the info. So as cool as Creature - Boar Monger is, Creature - Human Monger is probably more accurate.

I love that you can make the effect work for you. Just stick him in a self-milling deck. Your opponent no longer wishes for you to discard.

Alternately, keep lots of madness cards around.

@Missile_Penguin: I disagree. Any rumour-spreading scandalmonger is going to have to listen to rumours in order to spread them. I'm sure he'd just as often lend his ear to shady eyepatched informants as whisper those secrets himself.

Further, the boar is the prominent figure of the artwork, and really what makes the image notable. If the eyepatched man WAS supposed to be the scandalmonger, why hide him behind such a strange beast?

And, lastly, that guy does NOT look 3/3.

This card is a huge liability. When would you ever want completely free opponent-controlled discard?

If you're really concerned about the opponent actually using Scandalmonger against you, use madness. They won't waste a spark of mana on Scandalmonger and you've essentially got an inverse Azure Mage.
