I don't really think you can argue that since it says for EACH creature....

Looks like the cover for a bargain-bin NES adventure game.

Even the Oracle text is open for interpretation. You could argue that will negate the whole effect or needs to be paid for each creature.

Honestly this card should give also give all your creatures Haste as long as you have a Shaman creature in play.

Um, wait... so, you can sacrifice your creatures to prevent red attackers from dealing damage unless they spend some red mana. There's another way to stop attackers from dealing damage - BLOCKING! And, if you do that, you have a chance of killing the opposing creatures and your blocks can't be negated by spending 2R.

This card had it's uses - if you were on the short end of the creature stick at the time, you may not have enough creatures to block or your creatures would die from blocking. If you were going to lose a creature anyways, might as well prevent as much damage as possible.

Also, it only prevented attacking red creatures from dealing damage, it had no effect on damage they received. So you could block, kill their creatures but keep yours safe.

I guess it's an auto-include in any deck about changing colors. Either the color word on the card, or the colors of the attacking creatures. White can easily create tokens, so that you can sac some if you want to. But you won't have to most often, since your opponent would be stupid to attack into that. After all,this card prevents the damage of the attackers, but not the damage of the blockers, allowing you to easily kill the attackers, without losing creatures or life.

I like the story too, that the card tells. About sending a white creature to a lone suicide mission, in order to save the country, and thwart the evil opponents plans. Unless said opponent spends far more resources into chaotic magic.

The art seems to suggest black creatures, not red. Oh well.

Interestingly, this card's color identity is white + red, so you can't play it in a monowhite EDH deck.

You know, a non-color-specific reprint wouldn't be a bad thing.
