Persecutor, it has not always been a rare, it was an Uncommon in more printings than it was rare, and in those sets if you pulled this as one of your uncommons it often made up for your rare being a Rocket Launcher

Pity that baneslayer made this good old girl pointless. We will miss you Serra. You had a good run.

That's not Serra, that's a Serra angel.

She gets 5 stars just for being Serra.

EDIT: Belz_, yeah I know I just didn't type it all the way out. Here's hoping that in some future set we actually get a Planeswalker version of Serra herself.

She's heartbroken and dead, quite dead. Unless we get another Time Spiral-esque block, it's not going to happen. Sad days, closest thing to a plainswalker Serra is the vanguard. :C

@dragonking: No, it's not that exciting, but it's a fantastic as an uncommon and amazing in many decks that don't feel like dropping the big bucks for Baneslayer Angel or who would rather not make their friends mad by running the superior BA. Besides any of this, your comment appears on the version printed in the Divine vs. Demonic, where its reprinting was pretty much guaranteed by it being the first angel and one of the most iconic Magic cards ever.

sarroth what are you talking about? All I said was to stop reprinting it because it was boring I didn't say anything about baneslayer personally I think baneslayer is boring to. I am just annoyed that such a bland card gets reprinted time and time again when they could reprint a cool card like Guardian Seraph seeing as almost no one uses it they could make it an uncommon. contrary to commen belief serra angel and baneslayer are not the only big white flyers out there. There are plenty of cool white fliers you can by for a dolor or less like the Archons.

I've been trying to pimp out my duel decks.
Radiant, Archangel is almost always a strict upgrade to Serra.

I feel sort of sorry for Greg Staples for having painted the Serra Angel art that's famous for not being the gorgeous portrait by Douglas Schuler (on the Beta/Revised/Unlimited/4th edition angels). I guess it's still better than being the artist whose Serra Angel everyone has forgotten (Mark Zug for 7th edition, apparently).

Probably Staple's artwork here is just fine, but the old Serra Angel art triggers nostalgia like no other card in the game (except maybe Lord of the Pit, for that wistful "remember when we thought this was good" feeling).

Serra Angels with the old artwork and the new flavor text would be grand, maybe in a future From the Vault set.
