A great card, its just not diabolic edict or chainer's edict for that matter.

Gatekeeper of Malakir basically made all the Edicts worthless.

Diabolic Edict beats this. This is sorcery, it is instant.

This card is better than Diabolic Edict if and ONLY if your opponent runs target changing spells such as Deflection, since you are the controller of the spell you cannot be targetted unlike Diabolic and Geth's Verdict
Otherwise, its just a cheaper and slower version, Diabolic only appeared in Tempest and the Beatdown Box Set, whereas this card appeared in 4 sets

Playable in EDH, because you can only have one Diabolic Edict.

Why is this card awesome? Because it quotes Phage.

You can never have too many edicts.

I still think Abyssal Gatekeeper is a nice piece of tech instead of the edicts sometimes; depends on the deck. Innocent Blood is often nice because they can't Leyline of Sanctity it and such; again; deck-dependent.
Either way, they're always all good. The other Gatekeeper is clearly mono black, the edicts are almost all splashable. Run Geth's Verdict if you're mono black and don't run too many colorless lands, otherwise the edicts treat you well.
