More comfortable than fireball when killing your opponent's two 1/1s or two 2/2s. or 3 1/1s. Or one creature. Pretty much anything else? Might need to shape the battlefield with other burn spells. It's not awful, but it's worse than fireball mostly because you can't hit the player directly.
