I think this card. Good blocker for certain cards and once your done with it, just get rid of it and gain 3 life. ^_^

Bottle Gnomes – Mirrodin common. The blue liquid inside the Bottle Gnomes is called "lymph", at least in Mirrodin. This arcana speculates that the Tempest version may have involved some sort of Rath-based "proto-lymph".

I believe the poor gnomes, while they were useful at one time, are now fallen from grace with the 2010 rules changes, like so many other great cards. Bottle Gnomes, you will be missed.

If I was a planeswalker I'd have bottle gnomes following me around, they'd make good body guards. also Delicious.

Even with instant combat damage, you can still declare this as a blocker and then sacrifice it when you get priority in the declare blockers step. It just won't do its 1 damage.

Wonderful art, vaguely playable.
Just awesome, though, really.

They seriously need to merchandise these. But don't buttf*ck us on the price.

This reminds me of Chuck Norris. He fathered 7 children. 4 of them went on the become doctors, the other three were delicious...

Seriously, these would make a great tie-in product. My luck they would be a con exclusive or something, but really. A Bottle Gnomes soda/drink line would sell to us nerds.

Above-average creature but got smacked hard by M10 rule changes to combat
Still very handy as a chump blocker in a artifact-centric deck

Question: I'm thinking this could easily be turned into an 'Artifact Boon'- a one-mana spell that gets you 3 of something.
Would dropping the toughness down to 1 make this o.k. at {1} mana?
Idea for fixed Boon Cycle:
Giant Growth {G}
Instant
Target creature gets +3/+3 until end of turn.
Lightning Bolt {R}
Instant
Lightning Bolt deals 3 damage to target creature or player.
Unholy Ritual {B}
Instant
Exile three creature cards from target player's graveyard.
Mind Crush {U}
Instant
Target player puts the top three cards of his or her library into their graveyard.
Muster the Ranks {W}
Instant
Put 3 0/1 white soldier creature tokens with defender onto the battlefield.

Am I the only one that's wondering how they taste? Or if the different colors/ranks have different flavors?

Lost some of it's punch when they modified when creatures had to be in play to do damage, but still a solid blocker and phenomenal limited card.

@Darth Paralax, be sure to post on YMTC... you make the card, official forum for card ideas. Just change blues boon to brainstorm and its fine, whites still not useless but arguably weaker.
You also got to change the rest of the power 9, wheel of fortune, balance and time vault, but hey why change history?

They should release some new card sometime where these three make a cameo appearance except they're laying down, emptied of their liquid...or maybe someone drinking from one of them.
Love the image though! So cool.

I absolutely love this card! Everything about it is perfect. First off, the art is just the right sense of funny, and seriousness. They guy on the left is looking at the middle guy like he is asking what they were thinking. I love how Ben Thompson incorporated the outer bottle gnomes with the artifact border (I know, he probably didn't, but just roll with me). He even matched it with the uncommon rarity. Also, The gold one in the middle really brings the attention to the drawing, and I like how Ben Thompson centred it, but also didn't. The flavour text is epic. It captures both how they are reinforcements (1/3), and refreshments (they ARE bottles with liquid in them after all). The alliteration is also quite nice, as well as the rhyme (well, forced rhyme). Also, it costs 3 mana, you gain 3 life, and its has 3 toughness. Its like the alliteration with the de***ion. Plus, sacrificing them (Like you drink them) gains you 3 life. But they aren't exiled.. No! the bottles are just discarded (thrown into the graveyard).
