One of those "classic" good Magic cards that defines the game.

Hymn to Tourach sounds like a Vulcan holiday song. But yeah this really is my favorite and in my opinion best discard spell in Magic.

I agree with those who like this hymn artwork best. I mean, it actually looks like people engaged in some cultist chanting ritual.

incredible artwork and by far the best straight discard in the game. two cards for one at only 2 mana AND the discard is random. you can't beat that. if discard worked with any deck, this would be a 5. discard is kind of like land destruction, though... doesn't always work with every type of deck. however, this should absolutely be in any black deck that can use discard in any way. 4.5/5

The only booster of this set I ever got a hold of, had this baby inside. Dont even remember seeing a rare (remember two uncommons at least), but was pretty happy at this even if it is a common (no high tide though).
That plus some collector traded one elf I got (not the rare) for a few other cards, and considering that I got that for only +2 euros more than a normal pack at the time of kamigawa block, I think I got a good trade.

I think it's time to reprint this puppy.

Perhaps in From the Vault: PWNED!

Fallen Empires didn't actually have any Rares, only Commons and Uncommons. The rarest cards were U1 Uncommons. Hymn was merely a common, but it is totally awesome.

This is the best artwork for this card. Its very evocative.

The whole thought of this card reminds me of the beginning of the book Homeland by R.A. Salvatore. In it Matron Do'Urden is attacking a rival house and she uses the primal magic of giving birth to Drizzt to launch a devastating spell. This spell is like that: Devastating when the game is just beginning.
