Of all the cards to reprint...why this? Never this!

If you look at the other cards with a similar ratings, they generally do pretty much nothing ie Joven's tools. This definitely doesn't do nothing and is a fine creature for something like a casual G/B deck, where you aren't going to be multiblocked very often, or a deck with many instant pumps, which prevent or discourage multi blocking. Sure he isn't a good creature in today's terms, but there's no way he's a 0.5 star card.

Not a bad creature. Green deserves better, but if I had a green deck going in a draft I'd pick this before I started hate-drafting. If it was black it'd be good even.

I think people miss the idea of this guy COMPLETELY. He's a bulls-eye. You're meant to swing with him and an army of other green weenies and fatties and other bros, and they're going to see that downside of an ability and be torn over if they should block the creature who clearly becomes weaker, or if they should defend against other guys, potentially with "If this creature deals combat damage to a player" abilities.

Sure, not the absolute best plan, but people really have their heads up their butts when it comes to seeing how well a card can really function in spite of it's clear downsides.

Shortly after Legends was released, there was a player-made parody of it called Legends of Uselexia, where all the cards were actually even worse than the real Legends cards (yes, it's possible). One of the abilities in this parody set was "Cringe", which operated oppositely to Rampage.

Apparently, the Wizards R&D team was paying attention.

If you hold SEVEN creatures back on defense just to stop your opponent's 6/6, you're losing that game.

I think this guy is best used as a distraction so your opponent will either let a 6/6 through or all the rest of your creatures

Give it deathtouch, then see how anxious people are to send more blockers at it.

Normally I don't like strictly better newer versions of cards, but when the original was complete crap then there is definitely an opening for one. I would love to see another card that is functionally identical to this one where the casting cost is . This would certainly give green as the "creature color" something to brag about and I don't think it would be overpowered.
It would of course be rare.
