one of the few cards in homelands to actually be played for anything ever. almost as good as ornithopter? had its home in a few casual decks.

Don't forget, with training grounds u can do an infinite pump and close in for the kill.

@Fuminy: Yes, actually you can forget that. Training Grounds says pretty clearly that it can't reduce the cost of an ability to below one mana.

I really liked this card as a kid. In retrospect Homelands sucked, but in 1995 it looked like sanity compared to the madness that was 1993-4.

The limit on cost rather than usage is interesting. Training Grounds cant reduce the activation cost below 1 but it effectively doubles how large you can make this thopter.

If you think Homelands isn't a good set, you don't truly understand the power held within it. Why else would they make Apocalypse Chime?

Because they knew that an all Homelands deck would be so strong, there needed to be a card you could carry at the ready to destroy the power of the Homelands.

Homelands...the best set in MtG.
