Not only is this card bad by today's standards, but it was lousy for its time - compare to Serra Angel and laugh. Of course, for a while, it was deemed that Serra Angels were too powerful and drek like this was more appropriate, but thankfully that age seems to be over.

I think that you underestimate the power of Banding, especially on tough creatures like this one. That said, it's still not a very good card.

Banding was an overcomplicated ability, plus in most situations you were better off not banding your banding creatures together. For example if you band this guy with a 1/1 flyer, if he is blocked so is your flyer. But hey at least you can slay an x/3 creature right?

That said, it's still not a very good card.
