I don't see why nobody likes this card. A 2/2 flyer for 3 with an Unearth effect for 3 isn't bad at all.
He's not great, but he's not bad.

Strictly better than Wind Drake.

I'm thinking these little critters serve the demon lords of Grixis in their undead armies, hence the soldier type.

"I don't see why nobody likes this card."

I think you said it yourself:

"He's not great, but he's not bad."

People like great cards because they work well. People sometimes like bad cards when they're particularly terrible (Chimney Imp, Storm Crow). But it's really hard for a card that's just boring to get any recognition.

@scumbling1: Except Storm Crow isn't ridiculously horrible, it's just meh.

This is a perfectly serviceable flier for Limited, and the unearth helps get the last few points of damage in.
Outside of limited, it has a (very niche) role in a Bird tribal deck: wipe the board, get lots of counters on Soulcatchers' Aerie, then unearth and swing for a lot. Even then, you're usually better off with Soulcatcher.
