Far too expensive for a watered-down effect.

This card is alright, and it takes a lot to destory land...

Decent card. Art is downright terrible.

Looking forward to trying this in an out-and-out land assault deck. But as a stand alone card splashed into a deck, to expensive to have any merit.

Alright! Green land destruction is back! With this and Creeping Mold, well, you still need another color to build a land destruction deck, but at least green is able to contribute to the goal.

Maybe this is unintentional, but I think it's fun how similar this is to Poison the Well.

Trows have learned that it's not wise to eat cinders without a bucket or two of water nearby.

Eating cinders is not a wise idea in the first place. If they're really that desperate for food, they might as well eat the trees- at least those have fiber.

I don't think that eating trees is a good idea in Lorwyn, considering the presence of guys like Timber Protector.

@TDL: Except this is Shadowmoor we're talking about, though it would perhaps still not be a good idea, considering the canker.

It's too similar to Poison the Well - same CMC, very similar cost (2 colorless, 2 hybrid), similar effect (destroy a land, gain 2 / deal 2) - to be unintentional. It's got to be an intentional mini-cycle or something like that.

That being said, I like it. It's not a GREAT card, but 4 mana to destroy a land and gain a bit of life isn't awful. It's good as another source in a dedicated LD deck.

This art is obviously a follow up to that of Poison the Well. The depicted trow just ate the cinder seen committing the act of poisoning, and is now drinking the poisoned water to cool down his stomach. Which really says something for a trow's digestive system if this card gains you life

From a mono-black perspective, this feels pretty weird. 2BB to destroy a land with a lifegain rider.

The fact that hybrid cards are considered by the game to also be another color, even if you didn't use that color, actually goes a long way in letting me accept small color pie transgressions like the above.

Wizards please return black land destruction at 3 CMC.
