i actually don't think he's sooo bad. why? 1.: a 6/4 vanilla for 6cmc is decent in limited. 2.: giant and warrior are both well supported types - so he's better than craw wurm. 3.: he is red! that may sound stupid but it is true! in earlier times red always had to pay about 1 mana more for its vanilla creatures than for example green... (just take a look at gray ogre). so this is no good card, but i have seen muuuch worse! 2,5/5

This is why we have powercreep. People see a vanilla 6/4 for 6CMC and rate it a 1 or 2.

Do you think that Wizards designs cards based upon the ratings in Gatherer?
We have powercreep to correct mistakes made in Magic's infancy, and also to keep the game dynamic and interesting. Creatures were originally too weak, while removal was too strong. Tipping the balance in power between one type of card in another gives different limited environments unique feelings.
