Beautiful art, but an island? More like...seclusion with brook?

That's really more of a river than an island.

they were making a new color, "cyan" and the basic land was to be "babbling brook"... didnt make it past playtesting. they made the art into an island

They're talking about that little rock.
That's the island.
I'm just grasping at straws.

if it produces blue mana then we can call it whatever the hell we want to call it but it goes in the island pile.
Otherwise we'd have "basic land- blue mana source" and our basic lands would all have unique names and it would be confusing as all hell

These are 2 islands separated by just a bit of water in this one spot.

For this art to make sense you have to understand this is Lorwyn. Lorwyn is a tribal set and the major blue tribes are Merfolk and Faeries, neither of which necessarily live on or around an island, but simply in streams/rivers and near them. None of the Lorwyn Island art depicts your typical island but rather a nice grassy area with some sort of body of water.
