Interesting flavor, but causes too many rules complications, although Morph did evolve from this one card. Also the CMC for this card is far too low...

Wow, I gotta get me some of these to play in a fun deck.

id like to see this played along with 1 of my personal favorites Raging River and then see how the battle turns out.

Oracle needlessly overcomplicates the rules on this card. This is a good example of an old card with a fun premise.

Is it just me, or is the current Oracle rules text even more confusing and complicated than the original?

Indeed it is more confusing now, but that's what happens when you mix bizarre, arcane effects with a strict template. I don't know about this card. There are other randomizers/game changers that I like more, but none for so cheap.

Wordy.

The oracle text has to be wordy, I guess. Otherwise "when this creature is turned face up" triggers would go off. I think.

@Guest,
The prototype Morph can also be seen in Illusionary Mask: pay the cost for a creature in your hand, plus any extra you want to throw the other guy off. Put it into play face down. When it would deal or receive damage, or tap, first turn it face up.

I like the flavor, and the Oracle text is puzzling. A cool idea, and nice flavor. Your camouflaged troops must be intercepted as they're moving through the forest, but you can't be sure what they actually are.

Oracle text removes the psychological element of trying to read your opponent's face as you consider which blockers to assign to which face-down attackers.
