Why not just give them protection from white? Might have made them a little more appealing, oh well.

I really like the art, but the card itself is not useful. Maybe if it had outright protection from White it would be an alright card (not a good one mind you). Even if it had protection instead you would be relying on the opponent having white creatures. In most cases this is going to be a 4 cost for a 3/3.

I liked this cycle for doing hybrid cards right. Some of the hybrids should be gold cards, but these feel hybrid because you don't get off-color abilities in a single color. The 3-cost hybrids did it mostly right as well; same with the guildmages. I just feel they make more sense when casting it in a single color makes as much sense color-pie-wise than requiring a mixed deck to "feel right"
