Clone is a very well-costed way to copy creatures - whether it be your own or your opponents. Its strength lies in its versatility. Clone can be anything you want, provided what you want is all ready in play. A favorite tactic of players is to use Clone to copy a Vesuvan Doppelganger, which gives you much more flexibility. Often, Clone will be able to copy creatures much more mana intensive than itself for just four mana, but other times Clone will have no available targets save a Gray Ogre.

Powerful since it almost always gives you a cheaper version (3U) of whatever monster you copied. Obviously funny in formats with huge creatures, such as Commander.
