At a time when vanilla 2/2's cost 3 mana, Black Knight epitomized efficiency. Not only did he have a converted mana cost of 2, but he had first strike and protection from white. Black Knight was soon joined by Order of the Ebon Hand as black's premier answers to the white weenie hoards that dominated the tournament scenes and casual play during the latter half of 1994 into 1995.

There are so many great things about this card... it's efficient. It's a classic fantasy monster/creature. It's first strike in monoblack, something that still, to this day, only appears on 20-odd creatures. It has fantastic symmetry with White Knight. It has very cool flavour text.
