You think an elder would have an ability far more useful than tap : tap a certain permanent, wouldn't you?

I am fairly sure this guy knows how to wake up all the trees and make them trampling 10/10's, or destroy everything that isn't a forest or turn all your elves into Tarmo-Jitte-Moxes. He's just holding out on you to 'preserve the natural balance' or some ****.

What surprises me most about this card is that it's so much worse than Icy Manipulator. Despite being a 2/2 creature - a trait often considered a handicap - and costing colored mana, the card still has a "tax" on its activated ability relative to Icy Manipluator's cost. The tax is most likely because Elder Druid is green and the ability is uncharacteristic of a green card. However, if you really want to use the tap ability, Icy Manipulator is a significantly better option at the same mana cost.

SavageBrain89, InsertNameHere, this card can untap as well as tap. Of course, if it's not being used to untap a Gaea's Cradle or the like, I wouldn't see the point in investing so much mana, but still, it has the potential to do many things.

@InsertNameHere: You seemed to have not noticed that this guy can not only tap but also untap permanents. Sure, that doesnt mean he is a great card, but he should not be compared strictly to Icy Manipulator.

Green never claimed to be good at being blue.

Green just isn't allowed to be green anymore. Every cool thing green used to have got stolen and tossed into blue's "slice of the color pie". (or in some cases, red's slice.)
Green used to be good at untapping things (especially lands and creatures) as well as tapping things down to a certain extent (e.g. Winter Blast, a great card).
Green also used to be clever with tricks like Camouflage, Natural Selection,Sylvan Library, Vitalize, and so on, rather than being the embodiment of all things mindless and predictable. Green is now the "Idiot's Color" for underachiever kids who oogle at the sight of huge, undercosted trampling beasts and annoying 1/1 creature tokens. And REALLY ugly artwork.

Problem #1 with this card: No RKF art Problem #2 with this card: Still to errata to an Elder Cleric Druid Problem #3 with this card: Well, it kinda sucks
