I don't see the logic in this jumping from common to rare when it graduated to the core set. The card has its uses but seriously lacks that splashy X factor a good rare generally needs.

Its main ability is too expensive to make a real impact. I saw this used occasionally back in the day, but I haven't used it in years.

A colorless fire-breathing effect is pretty neat. Steam breath, I guess. The body is a bit weak, but compared to Pearled Unicorn and/or Gray Ogre, Dragon Engine is pretty cost effective. As an artifact creature, it can fill the 3 cc creature slot in virtually any deck.

Sadly, not a dragon. A good common, unfortuantely not a common by Revised standards.

If this was only a dragon, Crucible of Fire would make it completely playable. It's at a good CMC for a dragon deck and has a decent amount of toughness to make it at least serve as a wall until you mana sink everything into "Steam Breathing".

It's a shame really, this could have been a good 3 drop to keep your curve smooth.

"Those who believed the city of Kroog would never fall to Mishra's forces severely overestimated Kroog's cardboard and cotton ball based military weaponry."

Just kidding this guy isn't too bad. And, who knows, with all the excessive/infinite colorless mana combos out there this thing could actually tear a players face off in one shot under the right circumstance.
