Basic land art in non-core sets should convey their setting better then this. This is an Island in a lake. Nothing about this suggests either the lake or the Island are Chinese. Were the artists even told the lands were ment to be in a Chinese setting?

Have you been to China? I haven't either, but I know China is a huge country with a wide variety of land forms, and I also know Wizards did more than tell artists the setting was Chinese - they deliberately commissioned only Chinese artists for every card in the set.

Idyllic island arts are awesome. I like how the piece looks so.. cultivated. I have lived for a while on an island in the Qingpu. Gotta say though, real islands in the provinces don't look this neat, clean or trimmed.
